Activity: Finds from the old stone age

This event is part of the Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition 2024. 

Get hands-on with some prehistoric artefacts found in Hackney, and get the chance to hold a tool made by Neanderthals hundreds of thousands of years ago. What can these ancient discoveries tell us about these early humans and their way of life? 

Discover some of the creatures that used to roam London, including the largest ever land mammal taller than a double decker bus. Learn how archaeologists can tell whether they have found a mammoth or elephant by looking at their teeth.

Attending the event

This drop-in activity will be held in the City of London Room 1 on Saturday 6 July 2024, 10am  —  6pm.
