Ivan Marusic is a Pro Vice-Chancellor and Redmond Barry Distinguished Professor at the University of Melbourne. He is internationally recognised for his contributions to the field of fluid dynamics.
His experimental studies, conducted in large wind tunnels and atmospheric environments, have significantly advanced our understanding of wall-bounded turbulent flows. This research has implications for various practical applications, such as improving the efficiency of aeroplanes and ships, understanding heat distribution in the atmospheric surface layer, and optimizing fluid transport through pipelines, among others.
In recognition of his contributions, he has been elected as a Fellow of both the Australian Academy of Science and the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering. Additionally, he has been honoured with the Order of the Croatian Pletera by the Republic of Croatia and the Stanley Corrsin Award from the American Physical Society .
